Welcome to Mrs. Marconi's Music Class! Welcome to another exciting year of learning and appreciating the wonderful world of music. Last year we continued to explore the theory of music in all grade levels. What is Music Theory? Music theory is a collection of concepts and symbols that help our minds work with music, when we are engaged in any musical activity -- playing music, composing, improvising, reading musical notation, writing musical notation, learning a musical instrument, talking about music, teaching music, learning music, or just listening. This year we will continue expanding our knowledge of music using our voices, instruments, keyboards, and dance. Grades K through 2 will be learning music theory through fun written exercises and our all new individual staff white boards. This students will learn music as they rotate from three different stations in our amazing music classroom. The whiteboard and theory workbook table allows students to work one on one with myself (Mrs. Marconi) while the other students work hard on practicing their piano skills at the piano stations. All students will have a chance to sing with all their heart at the end of each class. Grades 3 through 8 will be learning music theory with their wonderful theory workbooks by Julie Mcintosh Johnson, Basics of Keyboard Theory. This theory program follows the theory requirements of the 1997 MTAC (Music Teachers Association of California) Certificate of Merit Piano Syllabus. Again this year, We will have an after school band which will meet on Friday's from 3:30pm to 4:30pm in the school music room located in Trinity Hall. Students can choose between four different instruments; flute, clarinet, alto saxaphone, and trumpet. Also again this year we will have a children's choir. They will again join up with our parish children the first Sunday of each month and sing at the Sunday morning 10:00 am mass. They will also be singing at various choral festivals and the yearly Christmas Eve celebration mass in the church.
