Principal's Message
IS A CATHOLIC EDUCATION WORTH IT?

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

It is a pleasure to serve the La Purisima School Community as principal this year. When pondering where my journey would lead me for the 2008-2009 school year, I was amazed at the pull of the Lord’s hand in guiding me to this small but shining school. As I grew in knowledge about the life of La Purisima School, it was obvious that the community possesses immense dedication, commitment and unrivaled spirit of the staff, students, parents and parish community at large. What an incredible and dynamic community of believers that embrace the mission of the church!

One would ask in these challenging of times, is a Catholic education worth the cost of tuition? My answer is wholeheartedly “YES!” Catholic schools as well as parish religious education programs are educating the future leaders and stewards of the church. What we learn and practice during the formative years will become the kind of persons that will serve the church in the future. The conversion and the capturing of hearts and minds at a young age and into adulthood who serve the Lord are the pivotal summits of building the kingdom of God for generations to come.

As a product of Catholic education myself and serving in the ministry of Catholic education, I am happy to give a positive testimony to the overwhelming benefits of a Catholic school education, especially here at La Purisima School. What an incredible blending of the hallmarks of Catholic education in providing a family centered environment that promotes a team partnership and assists the family in being the primary educators of their children. One can see that it is a faith-lived experience with caring teachers that actively choose to teach here, with students who want to learn and parents who support the school’s mission. La Purisima encompasses so many exciting and amazing opportunities that promote responsibility, discipline, meaningful and enriching academic programs that serve the various needs of its students, develops strong character values and embraces cultural diversity. Truly, the school teaches the whole child; spiritually, academically, intellectually, socially and physically. The financial support that comes from the parents and parish are key elements in the monumental success of the school.

With the support and assistance of the pastor and parish community and through the sharing of time, talents and treasure, La Purisima School is richly blessed. Let us continue our efforts together to ensure the growth of our Catholic faith and the outreach of community service beyond our walls. Let us continue to be the witnesses and disciples that Our Lord and Savior has called us to be. May the fruits of the Holy Spirit and God’s grace rest upon our hearts.

“As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body,
though many, are one body, so also Christ.
For in one Spirit we were baptized into one body,
whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons,
and we were all given to drink of one Spirit.”
1 Corinthians 12:12
