Do my children have to be Catholic to attend?
No, although a higher rate of tuition is charged for anyone who is not a member of La Purisima Parish or is not Catholic.

How do I apply?

  • The process starts at Open House, January 25, 2009.
  • Obtain a New Student Information Sheet from the school office, or download from the school web site under Admissions - Application.
  • Return completed New Student Information form to the school

Formal Registration and Acceptance: After all applications have been reviewed by the Principal, screening has been completed, and it is determined that La Purisima Catholic School can meet the needs of the student, available openings will be filled based on the Priority of Admissions Policy as outlined below:

  • For Returning Families: Siblings of currently registered La Purisima Catholic School families have priority.
  • For Families New to La Purisima School: Members of La Purisima Parish are given priority over other new enrollees.

How old must my child be to attend La Purisima Catholic School?

  • To enroll in our 2009-2010 Pre-K your child must be 3 years old on or before September 1st, 2009 and toilet trained.
  • To enroll in our 2009-2010 Kindergarten, your child must be 5 years old on or before September 1st, 2009.
  • To enroll in our 2009-2010 First Grade, your child must be 6 years old on or before September 1st, 2009.

Is there an entrance exam?
No. In order to ensure a smooth transition for all students, the school will conduct a grade level placement/assessment for students entering Kindergarten through 7th Grade. For students entering Kindergarten, a readiness screening is conducted to determine if a student is ready for our program. The results of all testing will be a factor in admitting and placing new students.

How does La Purisima Catholic School score on Standardized Testing?
According to Diocesan policy, standardized tests results are used as a diagnostic tool for the purpose of implementing curriculum to meet the needs of the students. Each year the parents are given the results for their own child/children.

What is the class size?
The maximum class size is 32 students, 24 students with 2 teachers in each Pre-K classroom. A part-time instructional aide assists grades K-2.

What time is school?
Supervision of students begins at 7:40 a.m. The school bell rings at 8:00 a.m. and the tardy bell rings at 8:05 a.m. School ends at 3:05 p.m. Pre-K and Kindergarten are full-day programs, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 3:05 p.m.

Do you have before and after school care programs?
Our Extended Care program is available to all students from 7:00 a.m. to 7:40 a.m. before school, and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. after school. (Regular supervision begins at 7:40 a.m. before school.) Program fees may be paid on an hourly, monthly, or annual basis.

What grades do you offer?
We offer classes for students in grades Pre-K through 8th Grade.

Do you offer scholarships, financial assistance or family discounts?
Any family who is in need of tuition assistance is required to complete a FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment Application. Please request an Aid Assessment application from the school office. Completed applications must be received by FACTS by March 15th to be considered for tuition assistance for the 2009-2010 school year.

Where do grade 8 students attend high school once they graduate?
Many of our graduates attend one of our Diocesan Catholic High Schools:

  • Servite High School (boys) in Anaheim
  • Rosary High School (girls) in Fullerton
  • Cornelia Connelly High School (girls) in Anaheim
  • Mater Dei High School (co-ed) in Santa Ana
  • Santa Margarita High School (co-ed) in Rancho Santa Margarita

What is the annual tuition?
The tuition rate for 2009-2010 for La Purisima Parishioners is $5,075 per student per year for grades 1-8, $5,300 for Kindergarten, and $5,995 for Pre-Kindergarten. A higher rate of tuition is charged for non-parishioner and non-Catholic families. Tuition is due in 10 or 12 monthly payments.

Additional fees for all families/students are:

Registration fee: $275 per student
Tuition management fee: $38 per family
Disaster Preparedness fee: $10 per family
Extended Care Registration: $25 per student
Class fees vary by grade level.

Fee and tuition increases are subject to change annually.
